1
Now
it
came
to
pass,
when
Adoni-zedek
king
of
Jerusalem
had
heard
how
Joshua
had
taken
Ai,
and
had
utterly
destroyed
it;
as
he
had
done
to
Jericho
and
her
king,
so
he
had
done
to
Ai
and
her
king;
and
how
the
inhabitants
of
Gibeon
had
made
peace
with
Israel,
and
were
among
them;
2
That
they
feared
greatly,
because
Gibeon
was
a
great
city,
as
one
of
the
royal
cities,
and
because
it
was
greater
than
Ai,
and
all
the
men
thereof
were
mighty.
3
Wherefore
Adoni-zedek
king
of
Jerusalem
sent
unto
Hoham
king
of
Hebron,
and
unto
Piram
king
of
Jarmuth,
and
unto
Japhia
king
of
Lachish,
and
unto
Debir
king
of
Eglon,
saying,
4
Come
up
unto
me,
and
help
me,
that
we
may
smite
Gibeon:
for
it
hath
made
peace
with
Joshua
and
with
the
children
of
Israel.
5
Therefore
the
five
kings
of
the
Amorites,
the
king
of
Jerusalem,
the
king
of
Hebron,
the
king
of
Jarmuth,
the
king
of
Lachish,
the
king
of
Eglon,
gathered
themselves
together,
and
went
up,
they
and
all
their
hosts,
and
encamped
before
Gibeon,
and
made
war
against
it.
6
And
the
men
of
Gibeon
sent
unto
Joshua
to
the
camp
to
Gilgal,
saying,
Slack
not
thy
hand
from
thy
servants;
come
up
to
us
quickly,
and
save
us,
and
help
us:
for
all
the
kings
of
the
Amorites
that
dwell
in
the
mountains
are
gathered
together
against
us.
7
So
Joshua
ascended
from
Gilgal,
he,
and
all
the
people
of
war
with
him,
and
all
the
mighty
men
of
valour.
8
And
the
LORD
said
unto
Joshua,
Fear
them
not:
for
I
have
delivered
them
into
thine
hand;
there
shall
not
a
man
of
them
stand
before
thee.
9
Joshua
therefore
came
unto
them
suddenly,
and
went
up
from
Gilgal
all
night.
10
And
the
LORD
discomfited
them
before
Israel,
and
slew
them
with
a
great
slaughter
at
Gibeon,
and
chased
them
along
the
way
that
goeth
up
to
Beth-horon,
and
smote
them
to
Azekah,
and
unto
Makkedah.
11
And
it
came
to
pass,
as
they
fled
from
before
Israel,
and
were
in
the
going
down
to
Beth-horon,
that
the
LORD
cast
down
great
stones
from
heaven
upon
them
unto
Azekah,
and
they
died:
they
were
more
which
died
with
hailstones
than
they
whom
the
children
of
Israel
slew
with
the
sword.
12
Then
spake
Joshua
to
the
LORD
in
the
day
when
the
LORD
delivered
up
the
Amorites
before
the
children
of
Israel,
and
he
said
in
the
sight
of
Israel,
Sun,
stand
thou
still
upon
Gibeon;
and
thou,
Moon,
in
the
valley
of
Ajalon.
13
And
the
sun
stood
still,
and
the
moon
stayed,
until
the
people
had
avenged
themselves
upon
their
enemies.
Is
not
this
written
in
the
book
of
Jasher?
So
the
sun
stood
still
in
the
midst
of
heaven,
and
hasted
not
to
go
down
about
a
whole
day.
14
And
there
was
no
day
like
that
before
it
or
after
it,
that
the
LORD
hearkened
unto
the
voice
of
a
man:
for
the
LORD
fought
for
Israel.
15
And
Joshua
returned,
and
all
Israel
with
him,
unto
the
camp
to
Gilgal.
16
But
these
five
kings
fled,
and
hid
themselves
in
a
cave
at
Makkedah.
17
And
it
was
told
Joshua,
saying,
The
five
kings
are
found
hid
in
a
cave
at
Makkedah.
18
And
Joshua
said,
Roll
great
stones
upon
the
mouth
of
the
cave,
and
set
men
by
it
for
to
keep
them:
19
And
stay
ye
not,
but
pursue
after
your
enemies,
and
smite
the
hindmost
of
them;
suffer
them
not
to
enter
into
their
cities:
for
the
LORD
your
God
hath
delivered
them
into
your
hand.
20
And
it
came
to
pass,
when
Joshua
and
the
children
of
Israel
had
made
an
end
of
slaying
them
with
a
very
great
slaughter,
till
they
were
consumed,
that
the
rest
which
remained
of
them
entered
into
fenced
cities.
21
And
all
the
people
returned
to
the
camp
to
Joshua
at
Makkedah
in
peace:
none
moved
his
tongue
against
any
of
the
children
of
Israel.
22
Then
said
Joshua,
Open
the
mouth
of
the
cave,
and
bring
out
those
five
kings
unto
me
out
of
the
cave.
23
And
they
did
so,
and
brought
forth
those
five
kings
unto
him
out
of
the
cave,
the
king
of
Jerusalem,
the
king
of
Hebron,
the
king
of
Jarmuth,
the
king
of
Lachish,
and
the
king
of
Eglon.
24
And
it
came
to
pass,
when
they
brought
out
those
kings
unto
Joshua,
that
Joshua
called
for
all
the
men
of
Israel,
and
said
unto
the
captains
of
the
men
of
war
which
went
with
him,
Come
near,
put
your
feet
upon
the
necks
of
these
kings.
And
they
came
near,
and
put
their
feet
upon
the
necks
of
them.
25
And
Joshua
said
unto
them,
Fear
not,
nor
be
dismayed,
be
strong
and
of
good
courage:
for
thus
shall
the
LORD
do
to
all
your
enemies
against
whom
ye
fight.
26
And
afterward
Joshua
smote
them,
and
slew
them,
and
hanged
them
on
five
trees:
and
they
were
hanging
upon
the
trees
until
the
evening.
27
And
it
came
to
pass
at
the
time
of
the
going
down
of
the
sun,
that
Joshua
commanded,
and
they
took
them
down
off
the
trees,
and
cast
them
into
the
cave
wherein
they
had
been
hid,
and
laid
great
stones
in
the
cave’s
mouth,
which
remain
until
this
very
day.
28
And
that
day
Joshua
took
Makkedah,
and
smote
it
with
the
edge
of
the
sword,
and
the
king
thereof
he
utterly
destroyed,
them,
and
all
the
souls
that
were
therein;
he
let
none
remain:
and
he
did
to
the
king
of
Makkedah
as
he
did
unto
the
king
of
Jericho.
29
Then
Joshua
passed
from
Makkedah,
and
all
Israel
with
him,
unto
Libnah,
and
fought
against
Libnah:
30
And
the
LORD
delivered
it
also,
and
the
king
thereof,
into
the
hand
of
Israel;
and
he
smote
it
with
the
edge
of
the
sword,
and
all
the
souls
that
were
therein;
he
let
none
remain
in
it;
but
did
unto
the
king
thereof
as
he
did
unto
the
king
of
Jericho.
31
And
Joshua
passed
from
Libnah,
and
all
Israel
with
him,
unto
Lachish,
and
encamped
against
it,
and
fought
against
it:
32
And
the
LORD
delivered
Lachish
into
the
hand
of
Israel,
which
took
it
on
the
second
day,
and
smote
it
with
the
edge
of
the
sword,
and
all
the
souls
that
were
therein,
according
to
all
that
he
had
done
to
Libnah.
33
Then
Horam
king
of
Gezer
came
up
to
help
Lachish;
and
Joshua
smote
him
and
his
people,
until
he
had
left
him
none
remaining.
34
And
from
Lachish
Joshua
passed
unto
Eglon,
and
all
Israel
with
him;
and
they
encamped
against
it,
and
fought
against
it:
35
And
they
took
it
on
that
day,
and
smote
it
with
the
edge
of
the
sword,
and
all
the
souls
that
were
therein
he
utterly
destroyed
that
day,
according
to
all
that
he
had
done
to
Lachish.
36
And
Joshua
went
up
from
Eglon,
and
all
Israel
with
him,
unto
Hebron;
and
they
fought
against
it:
37
And
they
took
it,
and
smote
it
with
the
edge
of
the
sword,
and
the
king
thereof,
and
all
the
cities
thereof,
and
all
the
souls
that
were
therein;
he
left
none
remaining,
according
to
all
that
he
had
done
to
Eglon;
but
destroyed
it
utterly,
and
all
the
souls
that
were
therein.
38
And
Joshua
returned,
and
all
Israel
with
him,
to
Debir;
and
fought
against
it:
39
And
he
took
it,
and
the
king
thereof,
and
all
the
cities
thereof;
and
they
smote
them
with
the
edge
of
the
sword,
and
utterly
destroyed
all
the
souls
that
were
therein;
he
left
none
remaining:
as
he
had
done
to
Hebron,
so
he
did
to
Debir,
and
to
the
king
thereof;
as
he
had
done
also
to
Libnah,
and
to
her
king.
40
So
Joshua
smote
all
the
country
of
the
hills,
and
of
the
south,
and
of
the
vale,
and
of
the
springs,
and
all
their
kings:
he
left
none
remaining,
but
utterly
destroyed
all
that
breathed,
as
the
LORD
God
of
Israel
commanded.
41
And
Joshua
smote
them
from
Kadesh-barnea
even
unto
Gaza,
and
all
the
country
of
Goshen,
even
unto
Gibeon.
42
And
all
these
kings
and
their
land
did
Joshua
take
at
one
time,
because
the
LORD
God
of
Israel
fought
for
Israel.
43
And
Joshua
returned,
and
all
Israel
with
him,
unto
the
camp
to
Gilgal.

And
it
cometh
to

when
Adoni-Zedek
king
of

heareth
that
Joshua
hath
captured
Ai,

and
that
the
inhabitants
of
Gibeon
have
made

with
Israel,
and
are
in
their

--
2
that
they
are
greatly
afraid,
because
Gibeon
is
a
great

And
Adoni-Zedek
king

sendeth
unto

unto
Piram
king

unto

unto

`Come

5
And
five
kings
of
the
Amorite
(the
king
of
Jerusalem,
the
king
of
Hebron,
the
king
of
Jarmuth,
the
king
of
Lachish,
the

are
gathered
together,
and
go
up,
they
and
all
their

and
encamp

6
And
the
men
of
Gibeon
send
unto
Joshua,
unto
the
camp
at
Gilgal,
saying,
`Let
not
thy
hand
cease
from
thy
servants;
come
up
unto
us
with
haste,
and
give
safety
to
us,
and
help
us;
for
all
the
kings
of
the
Amorite,
dwelling
in
the
hill-country,
have
been
assembled
against
us.`
7
And
Joshua
goeth
up
from
Gilgal,
he,
and
all
the
people
of
war
with
him,
even
all
the
mighty
men
of

8
And
Jehovah
saith
unto
Joshua,
`Be
not
afraid
of
them,
for
into
thy
hand
I
have
given
them,
there
doth
not
stand
a
man
of
them
in
thy
presence.`
9
And
Joshua
cometh
in
unto
them
suddenly
(all
the
night
he
hath
gone
up
from
Gilgal),
10
and
Jehovah
doth
crush
them
before
Israel,
and
it
smiteth
them
--
a
great
smiting
--
at
Gibeon,
and
pursueth
them
the
way
of
the
ascent
of
Beth-Horon,
and
smiteth
them
unto
Azekah,
and
unto
Makkedah.
11
And
it
cometh
to
pass,
in
their
fleeing
from
the
face
of
Israel
--
they
are
in
the
descent
of
Beth-Horon
--
and
Jehovah
hath
cast
upon
them
great
stones
out
of
the
heavens,
unto
Azekah,
and
they
die;
more
are
they
who
have
died
by
the
hailstones
than
they
whom
the
sons
of
Israel
have
slain
by
the
sword.
12
Then
speaketh
Joshua
to
Jehovah
in
the
day
of
Jehovah's
giving
up
the
Amorites
before
the
sons
of
Israel,
and
he
saith,
before
the
eyes
of
Israel,
`Sun
--
in
Gibeon
stand
still;
and
moon
--
in
the
valley
of
Ajalon;`
13
and
the
sun
standeth
still,
and
the
moon
hath
stood
--
till
the
nation
taketh
vengeance
on
its
enemies;
is
it
not
written
on
the
Book
of
the
Upright,
`and
the
sun
standeth
in
the
midst
of
the
heavens,
and
hath
not
hasted
to
go
in
--
as
a
perfect
day?`
14
And
there
hath
not
been
like
that
day
before
it
or
after
it,
for
Jehovah's
hearkening
to
the
voice
of
a
man;
for
Jehovah
is
fighting
for
Israel.
15
And
Joshua
turneth
back,
and
all
Israel
with
him,
unto
the
camp
at
Gilgal.
16
And
these
five
kings
flee,
and
are
hidden
in
a
cave
at
Makkedah,
17
and
it
is
declared
to
Joshua,
saying,
`The
five
kings
have
been
found
hidden
in
a
cave
at
Makkedah.`
18
And
Joshua
saith,
`Roll
great
stones
unto
the
mouth
of
the
cave,
and
appoint
over
it
men
to
watch
them;
19
and
ye,
stand
not,
pursue
after
your
enemies,
and
ye
have
smitten
the
hindmost
of
them;
suffer
them
not
to
go
in
unto
their
cities,
for
Jehovah
your
God
hath
given
them
into
your
hand.`
20
And
it
cometh
to
pass,
when
Joshua
and
the
sons
of
Israel
finish
to
smite
them
--
a
very
great
smiting,
till
they
are
consumed,
and
the
remnant
who
have
remained
of
them
go
in
unto
the
fenced
cities,
21
that
all
the
people
turn
back
to
the
camp,
unto
Joshua,
at
Makkedah,
in
peace;
none
moved
sharply
his
tongue
against
the
sons
of
Israel.
22
And
Joshua
saith,
`Open
ye
the
mouth
of
the
cave,
and
bring
out
unto
me
these
five
kings
from
the
cave;`
23
and
they
do
so,
and
bring
out
unto
him
these
five
kings
from
the
cave:
the
king
of
Jerusalem,
the
king
of
Hebron,
the
king
of
Jarmuth,
the
king
of
Lachish,
the
king
of
Eglon.
24
And
it
cometh
to
pass,
when
they
bring
out
these
kings
unto
Joshua,
that
Joshua
calleth
unto
every
man
of
Israel,
and
saith
unto
the
captains
of
the
men
of
war,
who
have
gone
with
him,
`Draw
near,
set
your
feet
on
the
necks
of
these
kings;`
and
they
draw
near,
and
set
their
feet
on
their
necks.
25
And
Joshua
saith
unto
them,
`Fear
not,
nor
be
affrighted;
be
strong
and
courageous;
for
thus
doth
Jehovah
do
to
all
your
enemies
with
whom
ye
are
fighting;`
26
and
Joshua
smiteth
them
afterwards,
and
putteth
them
to
death,
and
hangeth
them
on
five
trees;
and
they
are
hanging
on
the
trees
till
the
evening.
27
And
it
cometh
to
pass,
at
the
time
of
the
going
in
of
the
sun,
Joshua
hath
commanded,
and
they
take
them
down
from
off
the
trees,
and
cast
them
unto
the
cave
where
they
had
been
hid,
and
put
great
stones
on
the
mouth
of
the
cave
till
this
very
day.
28
And
Makkedah
hath
Joshua
captured
on
that
day,
and
he
smiteth
it
by
the
mouth
of
the
sword,
and
its
king
he
hath
devoted,
them
and
every
person
who
is
in
it
--
he
hath
not
left
a
remnant;
and
he
doth
to
the
king
of
Makkedah
as
he
did
to
the
king
of
Jericho.
29
And
Joshua
passeth
over,
and
all
Israel
with
him,
from
Makkedah
to
Libnah,
and
fighteth
with
Libnah;
30
and
Jehovah
giveth
also
it
into
the
hand
of
Israel,
and
its
king,
and
it
smiteth
it
by
the
mouth
of
the
sword,
and
every
person
who
is
in
it
--
it
left
not
in
it
a
remnant;
and
it
doth
to
its
king
as
it
did
to
the
king
of
Jericho.
31
And
Joshua
passeth
over,
and
all
Israel
with
him,
from
Libnah
to
Lachish,
and
encampeth
against
it,
and
fighteth
against
it;
32
And
Jehovah
giveth
Lachish
into
the
hand
of
Israel,
and
it
captureth
it
on
the
second
day,
and
smiteth
it
by
the
mouth
of
the
sword,
and
every
person
who
is
in
it,
according
to
all
that
it
did
to
Libnah.
33
Than
hath
Horam
king
of
Gezer
come
up
to
help
Lachish,
and
Joshua
smiteth
him
and
his
people,
till
he
hath
not
left
to
him
a

34
And
Joshua
passeth

36
And
Joshua
goeth
up,

when
Jehovah
delivered
up
the
Amorites
before
the
children
of
Israel;
and
he
said
in
the
sight
of
Israel,
Sun,
stand
thou
still
upon
Gibeon;
And
thou,
Moon,
in
the
valley
of
Aijalon.
13
And
the
sun
stood
still,
and
the
moon
stayed,
Until
the
nation
had
avenged
themselves
of
their
enemies.
Is
not
this
written
in
the
book
of
Jashar?
And
the
sun
stayed
in
the
midst
of
heaven,
and
hasted
not
to
go
down
about
a
whole
day.
14
And
there
was
no
day
like
that
before
it
or
after
it,
that
Jehovah
hearkened
unto
the
voice
of
a
man:
for
Jehovah
fought
for
Israel.
15
And
Joshua
returned,
and
all
Israel
with
him,
unto
the
camp
to
Gilgal.
16
And
these
five
kings
fled,
and
hid
themselves
in
the
cave
at
Makkedah.
17
And
it
was
told
Joshua,
saying,
The
five
kings
are
found,
hidden
in
the
cave
at
Makkedah.
18
And
Joshua
said,
Roll
great
stones
unto
the
mouth
of
the
cave,
and
set
men
by
it
to
keep
them:
19
but
stay
not
ye;
pursue
after
your
enemies,
and
smite
the
hindmost
of
them;
suffer
them
not
to
enter
into
their
cities:
for
Jehovah
your
God
hath
delivered
them
into
your
hand.
20
And
it
came
to
pass,
when
Joshua
and
the
children
of
Israel
had
made
an
end
of
slaying
them
with
a
very
great
slaughter,
till
they
were
consumed,
and
the
remnant
which
remained
of
them
had
entered
into
the
fortified
cities,
21
that
all
the
people
returned
to
the
camp
to
Joshua
at
Makkedah
in
peace:
none
moved
his
tongue
against
any
of
the
children
of
Israel.
22
Then
said
Joshua,
Open
the
mouth
of
the
cave,
and
bring
forth
those
five
kings
unto
me
out
of
the
cave.
23
And
they
did
so,
and
brought
forth
those
five
kings
unto
him
out
of
the
cave,
the
king
of
Jerusalem,
the
king
of
Hebron,
the
king
of
Jarmuth,
the
king
of
Lachish,
the
king
of
Eglon.
24
And
it
came
to
pass,
when
they
brought
forth
those
kings
unto
Joshua,
that
Joshua
called
for
all
the
men
of
Israel,
and
said
unto
the
chiefs
of
the
men
of
war
that
went
with
him,
Come
near,
put
your
feet
upon
the
necks
of
these
kings.
And
they
came
near,
and
put
their
feet
upon
the
necks
of
them.
25
And
Joshua
said
unto
them,
Fear
not,
nor
be
dismayed;
be
strong
and
of
good
courage:
for
thus
shall
Jehovah
do
to
all
your
enemies
against
whom
ye
fight.
26
And
afterward
Joshua
smote
them,
and
put
them
to
death,
and
hanged
them
on
five
trees:
and
they
were
hanging
upon
the
trees
until
the
evening.
27
And
it
came
to
pass
at
the
time
of
the
going
down
of
the
sun,
that
Joshua
commanded,
and
they
took
them
down
off
the
trees,
and
cast
them
into
the
cave
wherein
they
had
hidden
themselves,
and
laid
great
stones
on
the
mouth
of
the
cave,
unto
this
very
day.
28
And
Joshua
took
Makkedah
on
that
day,
and
smote
it
with
the
edge
of
the
sword,
and
the
king
thereof:
he
utterly
destroyed
them
and
all
the
souls
that
were
therein;
he
left
none
remaining;
and
he
did
to
the
king
of
Makkedah
as
he
had
done
unto
the
king
of
Jericho.
29
And
Joshua
passed
from
Makkedah,
and
all
Israel
with
him,
unto
Libnah,
and
fought
against
Libnah:
30
and
Jehovah
delivered
it
also,
and
the
king
thereof,
into
the
hand
of
Israel;
and
he
smote
it
with
the
edge
of
the
sword,
and
all
the
souls
that
were
therein;
he
left
none
remaining
in
it;
and
he
did
unto
the
king
thereof
as
he
had
done
unto
the
king
of
Jericho.
31
And
Joshua
passed
from
Libnah,
and
all
Israel
with
him,
unto
Lachish,
and
encamped
against
it,
and
fought
against
it:
32
and
Jehovah
delivered
Lachish
into
the
hand
of
Israel;
and
he
took
it
on
the
second
day,
and
smote
it
with
the
edge
of
the
sword,
and
all
the
souls
that
were
therein,
according
to
all
that
he
had
done
to
Libnah.
33
Then
Horam
king
of
Gezer
came
up
to
help
Lachish;
and
Joshua
smote
him
and
his
people,
until
he
had
left
him
none
remaining.
34
And
Joshua
passed
from
Lachish,
and
all
Israel
with
him,
unto
Eglon;
and
they
encamped
against
it,
and
fought
against
it;
35
and
they
took
it
on
that
day,
and
smote
it
with
the
edge
of
the
sword;
and
all
the
souls
that
were
therein
he
utterly
destroyed
that
day,
according
to
all
that
he
had
done
to
Lachish.
36
And
Joshua
went
up
from
Eglon,
and
all
Israel
with
him,
unto
Hebron;
and
they
fought
against
it:
37
and
they
took
it,
and
smote
it
with
the
edge
of
the
sword,
and
the
king
thereof,
and
all
the
cities
thereof,
and
all
the
souls
that
were
therein;
he
left
none
remaining,
according
to
all
that
he
had
done
to
Eglon;
but
he
utterly
destroyed
it,
and
all
the
souls
that
were
therein.
38
And
Joshua
returned,
and
all
Israel
with
him,
to
Debir,
and
fought
against
it:
39
and
he
took
it,
and
the
king
thereof,
and
all
the
cities
thereof;
and
they
smote
them
with
the
edge
of
the
sword,
and
utterly
destroyed
all
the
souls
that
were
therein;
he
left
none
remaining:
as
he
had
done
to
Hebron,
so
he
did
to
Debir,
and
to
the
king
thereof;
as
he
had
done
also
to
Libnah,
and
to
the
king
thereof.
40
So
Joshua
smote
all
the
land,
the
hill-country,
and
the
South,
and
the
lowland,
and
the
slopes,
and
all
their
kings:
he
left
none
remaining,
but
he
utterly
destroyed
all
that
breathed,
as
Jehovah,
the
God
of
Israel,
commanded.
41
And
Joshua
smote
them
from
Kadesh-barnea
even
unto
Gaza,
and
all
the
country
of
Goshen,
even
unto
Gibeon.
42
And
all
these
kings
and
their
land
did
Joshua
take
at
one
time,
because
Jehovah,
the
God
of
Israel,
fought
for
Israel.
43
And
Joshua
returned,
and
all
Israel
with
him,
unto
the
camp
to
Gilgal.

1
Now
it
happened,
when
Adoni-zedek
king
of
Jerusalem
heard
how
Joshua
had
taken
Ai,
and
had
utterly
destroyed
it;
as
he
had
done
to
Jericho
and
her
king,
so
he
had
done
to
Ai
and
her
king;
and
how
the
inhabitants
of
Gibeon
had
made
peace
with
Israel,
and
were
among
them;
2
that
they
feared
greatly,
because
Gibeon
was
a
great
city,
as
one
of
the
royal
cities,
and
because
it
was
greater
than
Ai,
and
all
the
men
of
it
were
mighty.
3
Therefore
Adoni-zedek
king
of
Jerusalem
sent
to
Hoham
king
of
Hebron,
and
to
Piram
king
of
Jarmuth,
and
to
Japhia
king
of
Lachish,
and
to
Debir
king
of
Eglon,
saying,
4
Come
up
to
me,
and
help
me,
and
let
us
strike
Gibeon;
for
it
has
made
peace
with
Joshua
and
with
the
children
of
Israel.
5
Therefore
the
five
kings
of
the
Amorites,
the
king
of
Jerusalem,
the
king
of
Hebron,
the
king
of
Jarmuth,
the
king
of
Lachish,
the
king
of
Eglon,
gathered
themselves
together,
and
went
up,
they
and
all
their
hosts,
and
encamped
against
Gibeon,
and
made
war
against
it.
6
The
men
of
Gibeon
sent
to
Joshua
to
the
camp
to
Gilgal,
saying,
Don't
slack
your
hand
from
your
servants;
come
up
to
us
quickly,
and
save
us,
and
help
us:
for
all
the
kings
of
the
Amorites
that
dwell
in
the
hill-country
are
gathered
together
against
us.
7
So
Joshua
went
up
from
Gilgal,
he,
and
all
the
people
of
war
with
him,
and
all
the
mighty
men
of
valor.
8
Yahweh
said
to
Joshua,
Don't
fear
them:
for
I
have
delivered
them
into
your
hands;
there
shall
not
a
man
of
them
stand
before
you.
9
Joshua
therefore
came
on
them
suddenly;
for
he
went
up
from
Gilgal
all
the
night.
10
Yahweh
confused
them
before
Israel,
and
he
killed
them
with
a
great
slaughter
at
Gibeon,
and
chased
them
by
the
way
of
the
ascent
of
Beth
Horon,
and
struck
them
to
Azekah,
and
to
Makkedah.
11
It
happened,
as
they
fled
from
before
Israel,
while
they
were
at
the
descent
of
Beth
Horon,
that
Yahweh
cast
down
great
stones
from
the
sky
on
them
to
Azekah,
and
they
died:
they
were
more
who
died
with
the
hailstones
than
they
whom
the
children
of
Israel
killed
with
the
sword.
12
Then
spoke
Joshua
to
Yahweh
in
the
day
when
Yahweh
delivered
up
the
Amorites
before
the
children
of
Israel;
and
he
said
in
the
sight
of
Israel,
Sun,
stand
you
still
on
Gibeon;
You,
Moon,
in
the
valley
of
Aijalon.
13
The
sun
stood
still,
and
the
moon
stayed,
Until
the
nation
had
avenged
themselves
of
their
enemies.
Isn't
this
written
in
the
book
of
Jashar?
The
sun
stayed
in
the
midst
of
the
sky,
and
didn't
hurry
to
go
down
about
a
whole
day.
14
There
was
no
day
like
that
before
it
or
after
it,
that
Yahweh
listened
to
the
voice
of
a
man:
for
Yahweh
fought
for
Israel.
15
Joshua
returned,
and
all
Israel
with
him,
to
the
camp
to
Gilgal.
16
These
five
kings
fled,
and
hid
themselves
in
the
cave
at
Makkedah.
17
It
was
told
Joshua,
saying,
The
five
kings
are
found,
hidden
in
the
cave
at
Makkedah.
18
Joshua
said,
Roll
great
stones
to
the
mouth
of
the
cave,
and
set
men
by
it
to
keep
them:
19
but
don't
stay;
pursue
after
your
enemies,
and
strike
the
hindmost
of
them;
don't
allow
them
to
enter
into
their
cities:
for
Yahweh
your
God
has
delivered
them
into
your
hand.
20
It
happened,
when
Joshua
and
the
children
of
Israel
had
made
an
end
of
killing
them
with
a
very
great
slaughter,
until
they
were
consumed,
and
the
remnant
which
remained
of
them
had
entered
into
the
fortified
cities,
21
that
all
the
people
returned
to
the
camp
to
Joshua
at
Makkedah
in
peace:
none
moved
his
tongue
against
any
of
the
children
of
Israel.
22
Then
said
Joshua,
Open
the
mouth
of
the
cave,
and
bring
forth
those
five
kings
to
me
out
of
the
cave.
23
They
did
so,
and
brought
forth
those
five
kings
to
him
out
of
the
cave,
the
king
of
Jerusalem,
the
king
of
Hebron,
the
king
of
Jarmuth,
the
king
of
Lachish,
the
king
of
Eglon.
24
It
happened,
when
they
brought
forth
those
kings
to
Joshua,
that
Joshua
called
for
all
the
men
of
Israel,
and
said
to
the
chiefs
of
the
men
of
war
who
went
with
him,
Come
near,
put
your
feet
on
the
necks
of
these
kings.
They
came
near,
and
put
their
feet
on
the
necks
of
them.
25
Joshua
said
to
them,
Don't
be
afraid,
nor
be
dismayed;
be
strong
and
of
good
courage:
for
thus
shall
Yahweh
do
to
all
your
enemies
against
whom
you
fight.
26
Afterward
Joshua
struck
them,
and
put
them
to
death,
and
hanged
them
on
five
trees:
and
they
were
hanging
on
the
trees
until
the
evening.
27
It
happened
at
the
time
of
the
going
down
of
the
sun,
that
Joshua
commanded,
and
they
took
them
down
off
the
trees,
and
cast
them
into
the
cave
in
which
they
had
hidden
themselves,
and
laid
great
stones
on
the
mouth
of
the
cave,
to
this
very
day.
28
Joshua
took
Makkedah
on
that
day,
and
struck
it
with
the
edge
of
the
sword,
and
the
king
of
it:
he
utterly
destroyed
them
and
all
the
souls
who
were
therein;
he
left
none
remaining;
and
he
did
to
the
king
of
Makkedah
as
he
had
done
to
the
king
of
Jericho.
29
Joshua
passed
from
Makkedah,
and
all
Israel
with
him,
to
Libnah,
and
fought
against
Libnah:
30
and
Yahweh
delivered
it
also,
and
the
king
of
it,
into
the
hand
of
Israel;
and
he
struck
it
with
the
edge
of
the
sword,
and
all
the
souls
who
were
therein;
he
left
none
remaining
in
it;
and
he
did
to
the
king
of
it
as
he
had
done
to
the
king
of
Jericho.
31
Joshua
passed
from
Libnah,
and
all
Israel
with
him,
to
Lachish,
and
encamped
against
it,
and
fought
against
it:
32
and
Yahweh
delivered
Lachish
into
the
hand
of
Israel;
and
he
took
it
on
the
second
day,
and
struck
it
with
the
edge
of
the
sword,
and
all
the
souls
who
were
therein,
according
to
all
that
he
had
done
to
Libnah.
33
Then
Horam
king
of
Gezer
came
up
to
help
Lachish;
and
Joshua
struck
him
and
his
people,
until
he
had
left
him
none
remaining.
34
Joshua
passed
from
Lachish,
and
all
Israel
with
him,
to
Eglon;
and
they
encamped
against
it,
and
fought
against
it;
35
and
they
took
it
on
that
day,
and
struck
it
with
the
edge
of
the
sword;
and
all
the
souls
who
were
therein
he
utterly
destroyed
that
day,
according
to
all
that
he
had
done
to
Lachish.
36
Joshua
went
up
from
Eglon,
and
all
Israel
with
him,
to
Hebron;
and
they
fought
against
it:
37
and
they
took
it,
and
struck
it
with
the
edge
of
the
sword,
and
the
king
of
it,
and
all
the
cities
of
it,
and
all
the
souls
who
were
therein;
he
left
none
remaining,
according
to
all
that
he
had
done
to
Eglon;
but
he
utterly
destroyed
it,
and
all
the
souls
who
were
therein.
38
Joshua
returned,
and
all
Israel
with
him,
to
Debir,
and
fought
against
it:
39
and
he
took
it,
and
the
king
of
it,
and
all
the
cities
of
it;
and
they
struck
them
with
the
edge
of
the
sword,
and
utterly
destroyed
all
the
souls
who
were
therein;
he
left
none
remaining:
as
he
had
done
to
Hebron,
so
he
did
to
Debir,
and
to
the
king
of
it;
as
he
had
done
also
to
Libnah,
and
to
the
king
of
it.
40
So
Joshua
struck
all
the
land,
the
hill-country,
and
the
South,
and
the
lowland,
and
the
slopes,
and
all
their
kings:
he
left
none
remaining,
but
he
utterly
destroyed
all
that
breathed,
as
Yahweh,
the
God
of
Israel,
commanded.
41
Joshua
struck
them
from
Kadesh-barnea
even
to
Gaza,
and
all
the
country
of
Goshen,
even
to
Gibeon.
42
All
these
kings
and
their
land
did
Joshua
take
at
one
time,
because
Yahweh,
the
God
of
Israel,
fought
for
Israel.
43
Joshua
returned,
and
all
Israel
with
him,
to
the
camp
to
Gilgal.

Now
it
came
to
pass,
when
Adoni-zedek
king
of
Jerusalem
heard
how
Joshua
had
taken
Ai,
and
had
utterly
destroyed
it;
as
he
had
done
to
Jericho
and
her
king,
so
he
had
done
to
Ai
and
her
king;
and
how
the
inhabitants
of
Gibeon
had
made
peace
with
Israel,
and
were
among
them;
2
that
they
feared
greatly,
because
Gibeon
was
a
great

as
one
of
the
royal
cities,
and
because
it

Ai,
and
all

Wherefore
Adoni-zedek
king
of
Jerusalem
sent
unto
Hoham
king
of
Hebron,
and
unto
Piram
king
of
Jarmuth,
and
unto
Japhia
king
of
Lachish,
and
unto
Debir
king
of
Eglon,
saying,
4
Come
up
unto
me,
and
help
me,
and
let
us
smite
Gibeon:
for
it
hath
made
peace
with
Joshua
and
with
the
children
of
Israel.
5
Therefore
the
five
kings
of
the
Amorites,
the
king
of
Jerusalem,
the
king
of
Hebron,
the
king
of
Jarmuth,
the
king
of
Lachish,
the
king
of
Eglon,
gathered
themselves
together,
and
went
up,
they
and
all
their
hosts,
and
encamped
against
Gibeon,
and
made
war
against
it.
6
And
the
men
of
Gibeon
sent
unto
Joshua
to
the
camp
to
Gilgal,
saying,
Slack
not
thy
hand
from
thy
servants;
come
up
to
us
quickly,
and
save
us,
and
help
us:
for
all
the
kings
of
the
Amorites
that
dwell
in
the
hill
country
are
gathered
together
against
us.
7
So
Joshua
went
up
from
Gilgal,
he,
and
all
the
people
of
war
with
him,
and
all
the
mighty
men
of
valour.
8
And
the
LORD
said
unto
Joshua,
Fear
them
not:
for
I
have
delivered
them
into
thine
hands;
there
shall
not
a
man
of
them
stand
before
thee.
9
Joshua
therefore
came
upon
them
suddenly;
{cf15i
for}
he
went
up
from
Gilgal
all
the
night.
10
And
the
LORD
discomfited
them
before
Israel,
and
he
slew
them
with
a
great
slaughter
at
Gibeon,
and
chased
them
by
the
way
of
the
ascent
of
Beth-horon,
and
smote
them
to
Azekah,
and
unto
Makkedah.
11
And
it
came
to
pass,
as
they
fled
from
before
Israel,
while
they
were
in
the
going
down
of
Beth-horon,
that
the
LORD
cast
down
great
stones
from
heaven
upon
them
unto
Azekah,
and
they
died:
they
were
more
which
died
with
the
hailstones
than
they
whom
the
children
of
Israel
slew
with
the
sword.
12
Then
spake
Joshua
to
the
LORD
in
the
day
when
the
LORD
delivered
up
the
Amorites
before
the
children
of
Israel;
and
he
said
in
the
sight
of
Israel,
Sun,
stand
thou
still
upon
Gibeon;
and
thou,
Moon,
in
the
valley
of
Aijalon.
13
And
the
sun
stood
still,
and
the
moon
stayed,
until
the
nation
had
avenged
themselves
of
their
enemies.
Is
not
this
written
in
the
book
of
Jashar?
And
the
sun
stayed
in
the
midst
of
heaven,
and
hasted
not
to
go
down
about
a
whole
day.
14
And
there
was
no
day
like
that
before
it
or
after
it,
that
the
LORD
hearkened
unto
the
voice
of
a
man:
for
the
LORD
fought
for
Israel.
15
And
Joshua
returned,
and
all
Israel
with
him,
unto
the
camp
to
Gilgal.
16
And
these
five
kings
fled,
and
hid
themselves
in
the
cave
at
Makkedah.
17
And
it
was
told
Joshua,
saying,
The
five
kings
are
found,
hidden
in
the
cave
at
Makkedah.
18
And
Joshua
said,
Roll
great
stones
unto
the
mouth
of
the
cave,
and
set
men
by
it
for
to
keep
them:
19
but
stay
not
ye;
pursue
after
your
enemies,
and
smite
the
hindmost
of
them;
suffer
them
not
to
enter
into
their
cities:
for
the
LORD
your
God
hath
delivered
them
into
your
hand.
20
And
it
came
to
pass,
when
Joshua
and
the
children
of
Israel
had
made
an
end
of
slaying
them
with
a
very
great
slaughter,
till
they
were
consumed,
and
the
remnant
which
remained
of
them
had
entered
into
the
fenced
cities,
21
that
all
the
people
returned
to
the
camp
to
Joshua
at
Makkedah
in
peace:
none
moved
his
tongue
against
any
of
the
children
of
Israel.
22
Then
said
Joshua,
Open
the
mouth
of
the
cave,
and
bring
forth
those
five
kings
unto
me
out
of
the
cave.
23
And
they
did
so,
and
brought
forth
those
five
kings
unto
him
out
of
the
cave,
the
king
of
Jerusalem,
the
king
of
Hebron,
the
king
of
Jarmuth,
the
king
of
Lachish,
the
king
of
Eglon.
24
And
it
came
to
pass,
when
they
brought
forth
those
kings
unto
Joshua,
that
Joshua
called
for
all
the
men
of
Israel,
and
said
unto
the
chiefs
of
the
men
of
war
which
went
with
him,
Come
near,
put
your
feet
upon
the
necks
of
these
kings.
And
they
came
near,
and
put
their
feet
upon
the
necks
of
them.
25
And
Joshua
said
unto
them,
Fear
not,
nor
be
dismayed;
be
strong
and
of
good
courage:
for
thus
shall
the
LORD
do
to
all
your
enemies
against
whom
ye
fight.
26
And
afterward
Joshua
smote
them,
and
put
them
to
death,
and
hanged
them
on
five
trees:
and
they
were
hanging
upon
the
trees
until
the
evening.
27
And
it
came
to
pass
at
the
time
of
the
going
down
of
the
sun,
that
Joshua
commanded,
and
they
took
them
down
off
the
trees,
and
cast
them
into
the
cave
wherein
they
had
hidden
themselves,
and
laid
great
stones
on
the
mouth
of
the
cave,
unto
this
very
day.
28
And
Joshua
took
Makkedah
on
that
day,
and
smote
it
with
the
edge
of
the
sword,
and
the
king
thereof;
he
utterly
destroyed
them
and
all
the
souls
that
were
therein,
he
left
none
remaining:
and
he
did
to
the
king
of
Makkedah
as
he
had
done
unto
the
king
of
Jericho.
29
And
Joshua
passed
from
Makkedah,
and
all
Israel
with
him,
unto
Libnah,
and
fought
against
Libnah:
30
and
the
LORD
delivered
it
also,
and
the
king
thereof,
into
the
hand
of
Israel;
and
he
smote
it
with
the
edge
of
the
sword,
and
all
the
souls
that
were
therein;
he
left
none
remaining
in
it;
and
he
did
unto
the
king
thereof
as
he
had
done
unto
the
king
of
Jericho.
31
And
Joshua
passed
from
Libnah,
and
all
Israel
with
him,
unto
Lachish,
and
encamped
against
it,
and
fought
against
it:
32
and
the
LORD
delivered
Lachish
into
the
hand
of
Israel,
and
he
took
it
on
the
second
day,
and
smote
it
with
the
edge
of
the
sword,
and
all
the
souls
that
were
therein,
according
to
all
that
he
had
done
to
Libnah.
33
Then
Horam
king
of
Gezer
came
up
to
help
Lachish;
and
Joshua
smote
him
and
his
people,
until
he
had
left
him
none
remaining.
34
And
Joshua
passed
from
Lachish,
and
all
Israel
with
him,
unto
Eglon;
and
they
encamped
against
it,
and
fought
against
it;
35
and
they
took
it
on
that
day,
and
smote
it
with
the
edge
of
the
sword,
and
all
the
souls
that
were
therein
he
utterly
destroyed
that
day,
according
to
all
that
he
had
done
to
Lachish.
36
And
Joshua
went
up
from
Eglon,
and
all
Israel
with
him,
unto
Hebron;
and
they
fought
against
it:
37
and
they
took
it,
and
smote
it
with
the
edge
of
the
sword,
and
the
king
thereof,
and
all
the
cities
thereof,
and
all
the
souls
that
were
therein;
he
left
none
remaining,
according
to
all
that
he
had
done
to
Eglon;
but
he
utterly
destroyed
it,
and
all
the
souls
that
were
therein.
38
And
Joshua
returned,
and
all
Israel
with
him,
to
Debir;
and
fought
against
it:
39
and
he
took
it,
and
the
king
thereof,
and
all
the
cities
thereof;
and
they
smote
them
with
the
edge
of
the
sword,
and
utterly
destroyed
all
the
souls
that
were
therein;
he
left
none
remaining:
as
he
had
done
to
Hebron,
so
he
did
to
Debir,
and
to
the
king
thereof;
as
he
had
done
also
to
Libnah,
and
to
the
king
thereof.
40
So
Joshua
smote
all
the
land,
the
hill
country,
and
the
South,
and
the
lowland,
and
the
slopes,
and
all
their
kings;
he
left
none
remaining:
but
he
utterly
destroyed
all
that
breathed,
as
the
LORD,
the
God
of
Israel,
commanded.
41
And
Joshua
smote
them
from
Kadesh-barnea
even
unto
Gaza,
and
all
the
country
of
Goshen,
even
unto
Gibeon.
42
And
all
these
kings
and
their
land
did
Joshua
take
at
one
time,
because
the
LORD,
the
God
of
Israel,
fought
for
Israel.
43
And
Joshua
returned,
and
all
Israel
with
him,
unto
the
camp
to
Gilgal.

Adonizedec
king

Therefore
the
five

So
Joshua
ascended
from
Gilgal,
he,
and
all
the
people
of
war
with
him,
and
all
the
mighty
men
of
valor.

And
the

for
I

there

all

Sun,
stand

you,
Moon,
in
the

of
Ajalon.
13
And
the
sun
stood
still,
and
the
moon
stayed,
until
the
people
had
avenged
themselves

Is
not

So
the

stood
still
in
the

and
hurried
not

about
a
whole
day.
14

And
Joshua

16
But
these
five

Makkedah.
17
And
it
was
told
Joshua,
saying,
The

Makkedah.
18
And
Joshua

Joshua

Israel

that
the
rest
which
remained
of
them
entered
into
fenced

21
And
all
the
people
returned
to
the
camp
to
Joshua
at
Makkedah
in
peace:
none
moved
his
tongue
against
any
of
the
children
of
Israel.
22
Then
said
Joshua,
Open
the
mouth
of
the
cave,
and
bring
out
those
five
kings
to
me
out
of
the
cave.
23
And
they
did
so,
and
brought
forth
those
five
kings
to
him
out
of
the
cave,
the
king
of
Jerusalem,
the
king
of
Hebron,
the
king
of
Jarmuth,
the
king
of
Lachish,
and
the
king
of
Eglon.
24
And
it
came
to
pass,
when
they
brought
out
those
kings
to
Joshua,
that
Joshua
called
for
all
the
men
of
Israel,
and
said
to
the
captains
of
the
men
of
war
which
went
with
him,
Come
near,
put
your
feet
on
the
necks
of
these
kings.
And
they
came
near,
and
put
their
feet
on
the
necks
of
them.
25
And
Joshua
said
to
them,
Fear

dismayed,
be
strong
and
of
good
courage:
for
thus
shall
the
LORD
do
to
all
your
enemies
against
whom
you
fight.
26
And
afterward
Joshua
smote
them,
and
slew
them,
and
hanged
them
on
five
trees:
and
they
were
hanging
on
the
trees
until
the
evening.
27
And
it
came
to
pass
at
the
time
of
the
going
down
of
the
sun,
that
Joshua
commanded,
and
they
took
them
down
off
the
trees,
and
cast
them
into
the
cave
wherein
they
had
been
hid,
and
laid
great
stones
in
the
cave's
mouth,
which
remain
until
this
very
day.
28
And
that
day
Joshua
took
Makkedah,
and
smote
it
with
the
edge
of
the
sword,
and
the
king
thereof
he
utterly
destroyed,
them,
and
all
the
souls
that
were
therein;
he
let
none
remain:
and
he
did
to
the
king
of
Makkedah
as
he
did
to
the
king
of
Jericho.
29
Then
Joshua
passed
from
Makkedah,
and
all
Israel
with
him,
to
Libnah,
and
fought
against
Libnah:
30
And
the
LORD
delivered
it
also,
and
the
king
thereof,
into
the
hand
of
Israel;
and
he
smote
it
with
the
edge
of
the
sword,
and
all
the
souls
that
were
therein;
he
let
none
remain
in
it;
but
did
to
the
king
thereof
as
he
did
to
the
king
of
Jericho.
31
And
Joshua
passed
from
Libnah,
and
all
Israel
with
him,
to
Lachish,
and
encamped
against
it,
and
fought
against
it:
32
And
the
LORD
delivered
Lachish
into
the
hand
of
Israel,
which
took
it
on
the
second
day,
and
smote
it
with
the
edge
of
the
sword,
and
all
the
souls
that
were
therein,
according
to
all
that
he
had
done
to
Libnah.
33
Then
Horam
king
of
Gezer
came
up
to
help
Lachish;
and
Joshua
smote
him
and
his
people,
until
he
had
left
him
none
remaining.
34
And
from
Lachish
Joshua
passed
to
Eglon,
and
all
Israel
with
him;
and
they
encamped
against
it,
and
fought
against
it:
35
And
they
took
it
on
that
day,
and
smote
it
with
the
edge
of
the
sword,
and
all
the
souls
that
were
therein
he
utterly
destroyed
that
day,
according
to
all
that
he
had
done
to
Lachish.
36
And
Joshua
went
up
from
Eglon,
and
all
Israel
with
him,
to
Hebron;
and
they
fought
against
it:
37
And
they
took
it,
and
smote
it
with
the
edge
of
the
sword,
and
the
king
thereof,
and
all
the
cities
thereof,
and
all
the
souls
that
were
therein;
he
left
none
remaining,
according
to
all
that
he
had
done
to
Eglon;
but
destroyed
it
utterly,
and
all
the
souls
that
were
therein.
38
And
Joshua
returned,
and
all
Israel
with
him,
to
Debir;
and
fought
against
it:
39
And
he
took
it,
and
the
king
thereof,
and
all
the
cities
thereof;
and
they
smote
them
with
the
edge
of
the
sword,
and
utterly
destroyed
all
the
souls
that
were
therein;
he
left
none
remaining:
as
he
had
done
to
Hebron,
so
he
did
to
Debir,
and
to
the
king
thereof;
as
he
had
done
also
to
Libnah,
and
to
her
king.
40
So
Joshua
smote
all
the
country
of
the
hills,
and
of
the
south,
and
of
the
vale,
and
of
the
springs,
and
all
their
kings:
he
left
none
remaining,
but
utterly
destroyed
all
that
breathed,
as
the
LORD
God
of
Israel
commanded.
41
And
Joshua
smote
them
from
Kadeshbarnea
even
to
Gaza,
and
all
the
country
of
Goshen,
even
to
Gibeon.
42
And
all
these
kings
and
their
land
did
Joshua
take
at
one
time,
because
the
LORD
God
of
Israel
fought
for
Israel.
43
And
Joshua
returned,
and
all
Israel
with
him,
to
the
camp
to
Gilgal.

1
Adoni-Zedek,
king
of
Jerusalem,
heard
how
Joshua
captured
Ai
and
annihilated
it
and
its
king
as
he
did
Jericho
and
its
king.
He
also
heard
how
the
people
of
Gibeon
made
peace
with
Israel
and
lived
among
them.
2
All
Jerusalem
was
terrified
because
Gibeon
was
a
large
city,
like
one
of
the
royal
cities.
It
was
larger
than
Ai
and
all
its
men
were
warriors.
3
So
King
Adoni-Zedek
of
Jerusalem
sent
this
message
to
King
Hoham
of
Hebron,
King
Piram
of
Jarmuth,
King
Japhia
of
Lachish,
and
King
Debir
of
Eglon:
4
"Come
to
my
aid
so
we
can
attack
Gibeon,
for
it
has
made
peace
with
Joshua
and
the
Israelites."
5
So
the
five
Amorite
kings
(the
kings
of
Jerusalem,
Hebron,
Jarmuth,
Lachish,
and
Eglon)
and
all
their
troops
gathered
together
and
advanced.
They
deployed
their
troops
and
fought
against
Gibeon.
6
The
men
of
Gibeon
sent
this
message
to
Joshua
at
the
camp
in
Gilgal,
"Do
not
abandon
your
subjects!
Rescue
us!
Help
us!
For
all
the
Amorite
kings
living
in
the
hill
country
are
attacking
us."
7
So
Joshua
and
his
whole
army,
including
the
bravest
warriors,
marched
up
from
Gilgal.
8
The
LORD
told
Joshua,
"Don't
be
afraid
of
them,
for
I
am
handing
them
over
to
you.
Not
one
of
them
can
resist
you."
9
Joshua
attacked
them
by
surprise
after
marching
all
night
from
Gilgal.
10
The
LORD
routed
them
before
Israel.
Israel
thoroughly
defeated
them
at
Gibeon.
They
chased
them
up
the
road
to
the
pass
of
Beth
Horon
and
struck
them
down
all
the
way
to
Azekah
and
Makkedah.
11
As
they
fled
from
Israel
on
the
slope
leading
down
from
Beth
Horon,
the
LORD
threw
down
on
them
large
hailstones
from
the
sky,
all
the
way
to
Azekah.
They
died—
in
fact,
more
died
from
the
hailstones
than
the
Israelites
killed
with
the
sword.
12
The
day
the
LORD
delivered
the
Amorites
over
to
the
Israelites,
Joshua
prayed
to
the
LORD
before
Israel:
"O
sun,
stand
still
over
Gibeon!
O
moon,
over
the
Valley
of
Aijalon!"
13
The
sun
stood
still
and
the
moon
stood
motionless
while
the
nation
took
vengeance
on
its
enemies.
The
event
is
recorded
in
the
Scroll
of
the
Upright
One.
The
sun
stood
motionless
in
the
middle
of
the
sky
and
did
not
set
for
about
a
full
day.
14
There
has
not
been
a
day
like
it
before
or
since.
The
LORD
obeyed
a
man,
for
the
LORD
fought
for
Israel!
15
Then
Joshua
and
all
Israel
returned
to
the
camp
at
Gilgal.
16
The
five
Amorite
kings
ran
away
and
hid
in
the
cave
at
Makkedah.
17
Joshua
was
told,
"The
five
kings
have
been
found
hiding
in
the
cave
at
Makkedah."
18
Joshua
said,
"Roll
large
stones
over
the
mouth
of
the
cave
and
post
guards
in
front
of
it.
19
But
don't
you
delay!
Chase
your
enemies
and
catch
them!
Don't
allow
them
to
retreat
to
their
cities,
for
the
LORD
your
God
is
handing
them
over
to
you."
20
Joshua
and
the
Israelites
almost
totally
wiped
them
out,
but
some
survivors
did
escape
to
the
fortified
cities.
21
Then
the
whole
army
safely
returned
to
Joshua
at
the
camp
in
Makkedah.
No
one
dared
threaten
the
Israelites.
22
Joshua
said,
"Open
the
cave's
mouth
and
bring
the
five
kings
out
of
the
cave
to
me."
23
They
did
as
ordered;
they
brought
the
five
kings
out
of
the
cave
to
him—
the
kings
of
Jerusalem,
Hebron,
Jarmuth,
Lachish,
and
Eglon.
24
When
they
brought
the
kings
out
to
Joshua,
he
summoned
all
the
men
of
Israel
and
said
to
the
commanders
of
the
troops
who
accompanied
him,
"Come
here
and
put
your
feet
on
the
necks
of
these
kings."
So
they
came
up
and
put
their
feet
on
their
necks.
25
Then
Joshua
said
to
them,
"Don't
be
afraid
and
don't
panic!
Be
strong
and
brave,
for
the
LORD
will
do
the
same
thing
to
all
your
enemies
you
fight.
26
Then
Joshua
executed
them
and
hung
them
on
five
trees.
They
were
left
hanging
on
the
trees
until
evening.
27
At
sunset
Joshua
ordered
his
men
to
take
them
down
from
the
trees.
They
threw
them
into
the
cave
where
they
had
hidden
and
piled
large
stones
over
the
mouth
of
the
cave.
(They
remain
to
this
very
day.)
28
That
day
Joshua
captured
Makkedah
and
put
the
sword
to
it
and
its
king.
He
annihilated
everyone
who
lived
in
it;
he
left
no
survivors.
He
did
to
its
king
what
he
had
done
to
the
king
of
Jericho.
29
Joshua
and
all
Israel
marched
from
Makkedah
to
Libnah
and
fought
against
it.
30
The
LORD
handed
it
and
its
king
over
to
Israel,
and
Israel
put
the
sword
to
all
who
lived
there;
they
left
no
survivors.
They
did
to
its
king
what
they
had
done
to
the
king
of
Jericho.
31
Joshua
and
all
Israel
marched
from
Libnah
to
Lachish.
He
deployed
his
troops
and
fought
against
it.
32
The
LORD
handed
Lachish
over
to
Israel
and
they
captured
it
on
the
second
day.
They
put
the
sword
to
all
who
lived
there,
just
as
they
had
done
to
Libnah.
33
Then
King
Horam
of
Gezer
came
up
to
help
Lachish,
but
Joshua
struck
down
him
and
his
army
until
no
survivors
remained.
34
Joshua
and
all
Israel
marched
from
Lachish
to
Eglon.
They
deployed
troops
and
fought
against
it.
35
That
day
they
captured
it
and
put
the
sword
to
all
who
lived
there.
That
day
they
annihilated
it
just
as
they
had
done
to
Lachish.
36
Joshua
and
all
Israel
marched
up
from
Eglon
to
Hebron
and
fought
against
it.
37
They
captured
it
and
put
the
sword
to
its
king,
all
its
surrounding
cities,
and
all
who
lived
in
it;
they
left
no
survivors.
As
they
had
done
at
Eglon,
they
annihilated
it
and
all
who
lived
there.
38
Joshua
and
all
Israel
turned
to
Debir
and
fought
against
it.
39
They
captured
it,
its
king,
and
all
its
surrounding
cities
and
put
the
sword
to
them.
They
annihilated
everyone
who
lived
there;
they
left
no
survivors.
They
did
to
Debir
and
its
king
what
they
had
done
to
Libnah
and
its
king
and
to
Hebron.
40
Joshua
defeated
the
whole
land,
including
the
hill
country,
the
Negev,
the
lowlands,
the
slopes,
and
all
their
kings.
He
left
no
survivors.
He
annihilated
everything
that
breathed,
just
as
the
LORD
God
of
Israel
had
commanded.
41
Joshua
conquered
the
area
between
Kadesh
Barnea
and
Gaza
and
the
whole
region
of
Goshen,
all
the
way
to
Gibeon.
42
Joshua
captured
in
one
campaign
all
these
kings
and
their
lands,
for
the
LORD
God
of
Israel
fought
for
Israel.
43
Then
Joshua
and
all
Israel
returned
to
the
camp
at
Gilgal.

At
this
time
Adoni
Zedek
was
the
king
of
Jerusalem.
He
heard
that
Joshua
had
defeated
Ai
and
completely
destroyed
it.
The
king
learned
that
Joshua
had
done
the
same
thing
to
Jericho
and
its

He
also
learned
that
the
Gibeonites
had
made
a
peace
agreement
with
Israel
and
that
they
lived
very
near
Jerusalem.
2
So
Adoni
Zedek
and
his
people
were
very
frightened.
Gibeon
was
not
a
little
town
like
Ai.
It
was
a
very
big
city—as
big
as
any
royal
city.
And
all
the
men
in
that
city
were
good
fighters,
so
the
king
was
afraid.
3
King
Adoni
Zedek
of
Jerusalem
talked
with
King
Hoham
of
Hebron.
He
also
talked
with
King
Piram
of
Jarmuth,
King
Japhia
of
Lachish,
and
King
Debir
of
Eglon.
The
king
of
Jerusalem
begged
these
men,
4
"Come
with
me
and
help
me
attack
Gibeon.
Gibeon
has
made
a
peace
agreement
with
Joshua
and
the
Israelites."
5
So
these
five
Amorite
kings
joined
their
armies
together.
(The
five
kings
were
the
king
of
Jerusalem,
the
king
of
Hebron,
the
king
of
Jarmuth,
the
king
of
Lachish,
and
the
king
of
Eglon.)
Their
armies
went
to
Gibeon,
surrounded
the
city,
and
began
fighting
against
it.
6
The
people
in
the
city
of
Gibeon
sent
a
message
to
Joshua
at
his
camp
at
Gilgal:
"We
are
your
servants!
Don't
leave
us
alone.
Come
and
help
us!
Hurry!
Save
us!
All
the
Amorite
kings
from
the
hill
country
have
brought
their
armies
together
to
fight
against
us."
7
So
Joshua
marched
out
of
Gilgal
with
his
whole
army.
His
best
fighting
men
were
with
him.
8
The
Lord
said
to
Joshua,
"Don't
be
afraid
of
those
armies.
I
will
allow
you
to
defeat
them.
None
of
them
will
be
able
to
defeat
you."
9
Joshua
and
his
army
marched
all
night
to
Gibeon,
so
it
was
a
complete
surprise
when
he
attacked
them.
10
The
Lord
caused
those
armies
to
be
very
confused
when
Israel
attacked.
So
Israel
defeated
them
and
won
a
great
victory.
Israel
chased
the
enemy
from
Gibeon
along
the
road
going
up
to
Beth
Horon.
The
army
of
Israel
killed
men
all
the
way
to
Azekah
and
Makkedah.
11
Then
they
chased
the
enemy
down
the
road
from
Beth
Horon
to
Azekah.
While
they
were
chasing
the
enemy,
the
Lord
caused
large
hailstones
to
fall
from
the
sky.
Many
of
the
enemy
were
killed
by
these
large
hailstones.
More
men
were
killed
by
the
hailstones
than
by
the
swords
of
the
soldiers
of
Israel.
12
On
that
day
the
Lord
gave
Israel
the
victory
against
the
Amorites.
Joshua
stood
before
all
the
Israelites
and
said
to
the
Lord:
"Sun,
stop
over
Gibeon.
Moon,
stand
still
over
the
Valley
of
Aijalon."
13
So
the
sun
did
not
move,
and
the
moon
stopped
until
the
people
defeated
their
enemies.
This
story
is
written
in
the
Book
of
Jashar.
The
sun
stopped
in
the
middle
of
the
sky.
It
did
not
move
for
a
full
day.
14
That
had
never
happened
before,
and
it
has
never
happened
again.
That
was
the
day
the
Lord
obeyed
a
man.
The
Lord
really
was
fighting
for
Israel!
15
After
this,
Joshua
and
his
army
went
back
to
the
camp
at
Gilgal.
16
But
during
the
fight,
the
five
kings
ran
away.
They
hid
in
a
cave
near
Makkedah,
17
but
someone
found
them
hiding
in
that
cave.
Joshua
learned
about
this.
18
He
said,
"Cover
the
entrance
to
the
cave
with
large
rocks.
Put
some
men
there
to
guard
the
cave.
19
But
don't
stay
there
yourselves.
Continue
chasing
the
enemy
and
attacking
them
from
behind.
Don't
let
the
enemy
get
back
to
their
cities.
The
Lord
your
God
has
given
you
the
victory
over
them."
20
So
Joshua
and
the
Israelites
killed
the
enemy.
But
some
of
them
were
able
to
go
to
their
cities
that
had
tall
walls
around
them
and
hide.
These
men
were
not
killed.
21
After
the
fighting,
Joshua's
men
came
back
to
him
at
Makkedah.
Not
one
of
the
people
in
that
country
was
brave
enough
to
say
anything
against
the
Israelites.
22
Joshua
said,
"Move
the
rocks
that
are
covering
the
entrance
to
the
cave.
Bring
the
five
kings
to
me."
23
So
Joshua's
men
brought
the
five
kings
out
of
the
cave—the
kings
of
Jerusalem,
Hebron,
Jarmuth,
Lachish,
and
Eglon.
24
When
they
brought
the
five
kings
to
Joshua,
he
called
all
his
men
to
come
to
that
place.
He
said
to
the
officers
of
his
army,
"Come
here!
Put
your
feet
on
the
necks
of
these
kings."
So
the
officers
of
Joshua's
army
came
close
and
put
their
feet
on
the
necks
of
the
kings.
25
Then
Joshua
said
to
his
men,
"Be
strong
and
brave!
Don't
be
afraid.
I
will
show
you
what
the
Lord
will
do
to
all
the
enemies
that
you
will
fight
in
the
future."
26
Then
Joshua
killed
the
five
kings
and
hanged
their
bodies
on
five
trees.
He
left
them
hanging
in
the
trees
until
evening.
27
At
sunset
Joshua
told
his
men
to
take
the
bodies
down
from
the
trees.
So
they
threw
the
bodies
into
the
cave
where
the
kings
had
been
hiding
and
covered
the
entrance
of
the
cave
with
large
rocks.
Their
bodies
are
still
in
that
cave
today.
28
That
day
Joshua
defeated
Makkedah.
He
killed
the
king
and
the
people
in
that
city.
No
one
was
left
alive.
Joshua
did
the
same
thing
to
the
king
of
Makkedah
that
he
had
done
to
the
king
of
Jericho.
29
Then
Joshua
and
all
the
Israelites
traveled
from
Makkedah
to
Libnah
and
attacked
that
city.
30
The
Lord
allowed
the
Israelites
to
defeat
that
city
and
its
king.
They
killed
everyone
in
the
city.
No
one
was
left
alive.
And
they
did
the
same
thing
to
that
king
as
they
had
done
to
the
king
of
Jericho.
31
Then
Joshua
and
all
the
Israelites
left
Libnah
and
went
to
Lachish.
Joshua
and
his
army
camped
around
that
city
and
attacked
it.
32
The
Lord
allowed
them
to
defeat
the
city
of
Lachish.
They
defeated
it
on
the
second
day.
The
Israelites
killed
everyone
in
the
city,
just
as
they
had
done
in
Libnah.
33
King
Horam
of
Gezer
came
to
help
Lachish,
but
Joshua
also
defeated
him
and
his
army.
No
one
was
left
alive.
34
Then
Joshua
and
all
the
Israelites
traveled
from
Lachish
to
Eglon.
They
camped
around
Eglon
and
attacked
it.
35
That
day
they
captured
the
city
and
killed
everyone
in
the
city.
This
was
the
same
thing
they
had
done
to
Lachish.
36
Then
Joshua
and
all
the
Israelites
traveled
from
Eglon
to
Hebron
and
attacked
it.
37
They
captured
the
city
and
all
the
little
towns
near
Hebron.
The
Israelites
killed
everyone
in
the
city,
just
as
they
did
to
Eglon.
No
one
was
left
alive
there.
They
destroyed
the
city
and
killed
all
the
people
in
it
as
an
offering
to
the
Lord.
38
Then
Joshua
and
all
the
Israelites
went
back
to
Debir
and
attacked
it.
39
They
captured
the
city,
its
king,
and
all
the
little
towns
near
Debir.
They
killed
everyone
in
the
city,
just
as
they
had
done
to
Libnah
and
its
king.
No
one
was
left
alive
there.
They
destroyed
the
city
and
killed
all
the
people
in
it
as
an
offering
to
the
Lord.
40
So
Joshua
defeated
all
the
kings
of
the
cities
of
the
hill
country,
the
Negev,
the
western
foothills,
and
the
eastern
foothills.
The
Lord,
the
God
of
Israel,
had
told
Joshua
to
kill
all
the
people,
so
Joshua
did
not
leave
anyone
alive
in
those
places.
41
Joshua
captured
all
the
cities
from
Kadesh
Barnea
to
Gaza.
He
captured
all
the
cities
from
Goshen
to
Gibeon.
42
Joshua
captured
all
these
cities
and
their
kings
on
one
trip.
He
did
this
because
the
Lord,
the
God
of
Israel,
was
fighting
for
Israel.
43
Then
Joshua
and
all
the
Israelites
returned
to
their
camp
at
Gilgal.

And
when
Adoni-bezec
king
of
Jerusalem
heard

as
he

even
so
they
did
to
Gai
and
its

and
that
the
inhabitants
of
Gabaon
had
gone
over
to
Joshua
and
Israel;
2
then
they

them,
for
the

that
Gabaon

city,

chief
cities,
and
all
its

3
So
Adoni-bezec
king
of
Jerusalem
sent
to
Elam
king
of
Hebron,
and
to
Phidon
king
of
Jerimuth,
and
to
Jephtha
king
of
Lachis,
and
to
Dabin
king
of
Odollam,
saying,
4
Come
up
hither
to
me,
and

me,
and
let
us
take
Gabaon;
for
Gr.
they
the

5
And
the
five
kings
of
the
Jebusites
went
up,
the
king
of
Jerusalem,
and
the
king
of
Chebron,
and
the
king
of
Jerimuth,
and
the
king
of
Lachis,
and
the
king
of
Odollam,
they
and
all
their
people;
and
encamped
around
Gabaon,
and
besieged
it.
6
And
the
inhabitants
of
Gabaon
sent
to
Joshua
into
the
camp
to
Galgala,
saying,
Slack
not
thy
hands
from
thy
servants:
come
up
quickly
to
us,
and
help
us,
and
rescue
us;
for
all
the
kings
of
the
Amorites
who
dwell
in
the
hill
country
are
gathered
together
against
us.
7
And
Joshua
went
up
from
Galgala,
he
and
all
the
people
of
war
with
him,
every
one
mighty
in
strength.
8
And
the
Lord
said
to
Joshua,
Fear
them
not,
for
I
have
delivered
them
into
thy
hands;
there
shall
not
one
of
them
be
left
before
you.
9
And
when
Joshua
came
suddenly
upon
them,
he
had
advanced
all
the
night
out
of
Galgala.
10
And
the
Lord
struck
them
with
terror
before
the
children
of
Israel;
and
the
Lord
destroyed
them
with
a
great
slaughter
at
Gabaon;
and
they
pursued
them
by
the
way
of
the
going
up
of
Oronin,
and
they
smote
them
to
Azeca
and
to
Makeda.
11
And
when
they
fled
from
the
face
of
the
children
of
Israel
at
the
descent
of
Oronin,
then
the
Lord
cast
upon
them
hailstones
from
heaven
to
Azeca;
and
they
were
more
that
died
by
the
hailstones,
than
those
whom
the
children
of
Israel
slew
with
the
sword
in
the
battle.
12
Then
Joshua
spoke
to
the
Lord,
in
the
day
in
which
the
Lord
delivered
the
Amorite
into
the
power
of
Israel,
when
he
destroyed
them
in
Gabaon,
and
they
were
destroyed
from
before
the
children
of
Israel:
and
Joshua
said,
Let
the
sun
stand
over
against
Gabaon,
and
the
moon
over
against
the
valley
of
Ælon.
13
And
the
sun
and
the
moon
stood
still,
until
God
executed
vengeance
on
their

these

was
told
Joshua,

The

18
And
Joshua
said,
Roll

and
set

them.
19
But
do

Joshua

and
they

Do

26
And
Joshua
slew
them,
and
hanged
them
on
five

and
they
hung
upon

until
the

27
And
it
came

they

28

and
they

to

29
And
Joshua
and
all
Israel
with
him
departed
out
of
Makeda

and
besieged
Lebna.
30
And
the
Lord
delivered

and
they
took
it,
and
its
king,
and
slew
the
inhabitants
with
the
edge
of
the
sword,
and
every
thing
breathing
in
it;
and
there
was
not
left
in
it
any
that
survived
and
escaped;
and
they
did
to
its
king,
as
they
did
to
the

31
And
Joshua
and
all
Israel
with
him
departed
from
Lebna
to
Lachis,
and
he
encamped
about
it,
and

32

the

all

as
they
did

Odollam.
38
And
Joshua
and
all
Israel
returned
to
Dabir;
and
they
encamped
about
it;
39
and
they
took
it,
and
its

and
its

and
he
smote

so
they

And
Joshua
smote

the
land

Nageb

they
utterly

as
the
Lord
God
of
Israel
commanded,
41
from
Cades
Barne
to
Gaza,
all
Gosom,
as
far
as
Gabaon.
42
And
Joshua
smote,
once
for
all,
all
their
kings,
and
their
land,
because
the
Lord
God
of
Israel
fought
on
the
side
of
Israel.

Adoni-zedek
king
of
Jerusalem
heard

Ai
and
had

Joshua
had

Adoni-zedek
heard
that
the
people
of
Gibeon
had
made
peace
with
Israel
and
were
among
them.
2
He
was
very
much
afraid.
Because
Gibeon
was
a
large
city,
like
one
of
the
cities
of
a
king.
It
was
larger
than
Ai.
All
its
men
were
strong.
3
So
Adoni-zedek
of
Jerusalem
sent
word
to
Hoham
king
of
Hebron,
Piram
king
of
Jarmuth,
Japhia
king
of
Lachish,
and
Debir
king
of
Eglon.
He
said
to
them,
4
"Come
and
help
me.
Let
us
go
fight
against
Gibeon.
For
it
has
made
peace
with
Joshua
and
the
people
of
Israel."
5
So
the
five
kings
of
the
Amorites,
the
kings
of
Jerusalem,
Hebron,
Jarmuth,
Lachish
and
Eglon,
gathered
together
with
all
their
armies.
And
they
went
and
set
up
their
tents
by
Gibeon,
to
fight
against
it.
6
Then
the
men
of
Gibeon
sent
word
to
Joshua
at
the
tents
at
Gilgal,
saying,
"Do
not
leave
your
servants
alone.
Hurry
and
help
us.
For
all
the
kings
of
the
Amorites
who
live
in
the
hill
country
have
gathered
against
us."
7
So
Joshua
went
up
from
Gilgal.
He
took
with
him
all
the
men
of
war
and
all
the
strong
soldiers.
8
The
Lord
said
to
Joshua,
"Do
not
be
afraid
of
them.
For
I
have
given
them
into
your
hands.
Not
one
of
them
will
stand
in
front
of
you."
9
So
Joshua
came
upon
them
by
surprise
by
traveling
all
night
from
Gilgal.
10
The

ran
from
Israel.

they
ran
from
Beth-horon,
the
Lord
made
large
hail-stones
fall
from
heaven
on
them
as
far
as
Azekah,
and
they
died.
More
died
from
the
hail-stones
than
the
sons
of
Israel
killed
with
the
sword.
12
Then
Joshua
spoke
to
the
Lord
on
the
day
when
the
Lord
made
the
Amorites
lose
the
war
against
the
sons
of
Israel.
He
said,
in
the
eyes
of
Israel,
"O
sun,
stand
still
at
Gibeon.
O
moon,
stand
still
in
the
valley
of
Aijalon."
13
So
the
sun
stood
still
and
the
moon
stopped,
until
the
nation
punished
those
who
fought
against
them.
Is
it
not
written
in
the
Book
of
Jashar?
The
sun
stopped
in
the
center
of
the
sky.
It
did
not
hurry
to
go
down
for
about
a
whole
day.
14
There
has
been
no
day
like
it
before
or
since,
when
the
Lord
listened
to
the
voice
of
a
man.
For
the
Lord
fought
for
Israel.
15
Then
Joshua
and
all
Israel
returned
to
the
tents
at
Gilgal.
16
Now
these
five
kings
had
run
away
and
hidden
themselves
in
the
cave
at
Makkedah.
17
Joshua
was
told,
"The
five
kings
have
been
found
hiding
in
the
cave
at
Makkedah."
18
And
Joshua
said,
"Roll
large
stones
against
the
opening
of
the
cave.
Then
put
men
there
to
watch
over
them.
19
But
do
not
stay
there
yourselves.
Go
after
those
who
hate
you.
Follow
after
them
and
fight.
Do
not
let
them
go
into
their
cities.
For
the
Lord
your
God
has
given
them
into
your
hand."
20
Joshua
and
the
sons
of
Israel
finished
killing
many
of
them,
until
they
were
destroyed.
Those
who
were
left
alive
went
into
their
strong
cities.
21
Then
all
the
people
returned
to
Joshua
at
the
tents
at
Makkedah
in
peace.
No
one
said
a
word
against
any
of
the
people
of
Israel.
22
Then
Joshua
said,
"Open
the
mouth
of
the
cave
and
bring
those
five
kings
out
to
me."
23
The
five
kings
were
brought
to
him
from
the
cave,
the
king
of
Jerusalem,
Hebron,
Jarmuth,
Lachish
and
Eglon.
24
When
they
brought
those
kings
out
to
Joshua,
he
called
for
all
the
men
of
Israel.
He
said
to
the
leaders
of
the
men
of
war
who
had
gone
with
him,
"Come
near.
Put
your
feet
on
the
necks
of
these
kings."
So
they
came
and
put
their
feet
on
their
necks.
25
Then
Joshua
said
to
them,
"Do
not
be
afraid
or
troubled.
Be
strong
and
have
strength
of
heart.
For
the
Lord
will
do
this
to
all
who
hate
you
and
fight
against
you."
26
After
this
Joshua
killed
the
kings.
He
hanged
them
on
five
trees,
and
they
hung
on
the
trees
until
evening.
27
When
the
sun
went
down,
Joshua
had
them
taken
down
from
the
trees
and
thrown
into
the
cave
where
they
had
hidden.
Large
stones
were
put
over
the
opening
of
the
cave.
And
they
are
there
to
this
day.
28
Joshua
took
Makkedah
on
that
day.
He
destroyed
it
and
its
king
with
the
sword.
He
destroyed
all
of
it
and
every
person
in
it.
No
one
was
left
alive.
He
did
the
same
to
the
king
of
Makkedah
as
he
had
done
to
the
king
of
Jericho.
29
Then
Joshua
and
all
Israel
went
from
Makkedah
to
fight
against
Libnah.
30
The
Lord
gave
it
and
its
king
into
the
hands
of
Israel
also.
Joshua
destroyed
it
and
every
person
in
it
with
the
sword.
He
left
no
one
alive.
So
he
did
the
same
to
its
king
as
he
had
done
to
the
king
of
Jericho.
31
Joshua
and
all
Israel
went
from
Libnah
to
Lachish.
They
stayed
beside
it
and
fought
against
it.
32
And
the
Lord
gave
Lachish
into
the
hands
of
Israel.
Joshua
took
it
on
the
second
day.
He
destroyed
it
and
every
person
in
it
with
the
sword,
just
as
he
had
done
to
Libnah.
33
Horam
king
of
Gezer
came
to
help
Lachish.
But
Joshua
won
the
battle
against
him
and
his
people.
He
left
no
one
alive.
34
Joshua
and
all
Israel
went
from
Lachish
to
Eglon.
They
stayed
beside
it
and
fought
against
it.
35
And
they
took
it
on
that
day
and
destroyed
it
with
the
sword.
He
destroyed
every
person
who
was
in
it
that
day,
just
as
he
had
done
to
Lachish.
36
Joshua
and
all
Israel
went
from
Eglon
to
Hebron.
And
they
fought
against
it.
37
They
took
it
and
destroyed
it.
They
destroyed
its
king,
all
its
cities
and
all
who
were
in
it
with
the
sword.
He
left
no
one
alive,
just
as
he
had
done
to
Eglon.
He
destroyed
all
of
it
and
every
person
in
it.
38
Then
Joshua
and
all
Israel
returned
to
Debir.
And
they
fought
against
it.
39
He
took
it,
its
king
and
all
its
cities.
He
destroyed
them
with
the
sword.
Every
person
in
it
was
destroyed.
No
one
was
left
alive.
He
did
the
same
to
Debir
and
its
king
as
he
had
done
to
Hebron
and
Libnah
and
their
kings.
40
So
Joshua
won
the
war
against
the
whole
land,
the
hill
country,
the
Negev,
the
valleys,
the
hill-sides,
and
all
their
kings.
He
left
no
one
alive.
He
destroyed
all
who
breathed,
just
as
the
Lord,
the
God
of
Israel,
had
told
him.
41
Joshua
killed
them
from
Kadesh-barnea
as
far
as
Gaza.
He
killed
them
in
all
the
country
of
Goshen
as
far
as
Gibeon.
42
Joshua
took
all
these
kings
and
their
lands
at
the
same
time.
Because
the
Lord,
the
God
of
Israel,
fought
for
Israel.
43
Then
Joshua
and
all
Israel
returned
to
the
tents
at
Gilgal.

1
At
this
time
Adoni-Zedek
king
of
Jerusalem
heard
that
Joshua
had
defeated
Ai
and
completely
destroyed
it,
as
he
had
also
done
to
Jericho
and
its
king.
The
king
also
learned
that
the
Gibeonites
had
made
a
peace
agreement
with
Israel
and
that
they
lived
nearby.
2
Adoni-Zedek
and
his
people
were
very
afraid
because
of
this.
Gibeon
was
not
a
little
town
like
Ai;
it
was
a
large
city,
as
big
as
a
city
that
had
a
king,
and
all
its
men
were
good
fighters.
3
So
Adoni-Zedek
king
of
Jerusalem
sent
a
message
to
Hoham
king
of
Hebron,
Piram
king
of
Jarmuth,
Japhia
king
of
Lachish,
and
Debir
king
of
Eglon.
He
begged
them,
4
"Come
with
me
and
help
me
attack
Gibeon,
which
has
made
a
peace
agreement
with
Joshua
and
the
Israelites."
5
Then
these
five
Amorite
kings
--
the
kings
of
Jerusalem,
Hebron,
Jarmuth,
Lachish,
and
Eglon
--
gathered
their
armies,
went
to
Gibeon,
surrounded
it,
and
attacked
it.
6
The
Gibeonites
sent
this
message
to
Joshua
in
his
camp
at
Gilgal:
"Don't
let
us,
your
servants,
be
destroyed.
Come
quickly
and
help
us!
Save
us!
All
the
Amorite
kings
from
the
mountains
have
joined
their
armies
and
are
fighting
against
us."
7
So
Joshua
marched
out
of
Gilgal
with
his
whole
army,
including
his
best
fighting
men.
8
The
Lord
said
to
Joshua,
"Don't
be
afraid
of
those
armies,
because
I
will
hand
them
over
to
you.
None
of
them
will
be
able
to
stand
against
you."
9
Joshua
and
his
army
marched
all
night
from
Gilgal
for
a
surprise
attack.
10
The
Lord
confused
those
armies
when
Israel
attacked,
so
Israel
defeated
them
in
a
great
victory
at
Gibeon.
They
chased
them
along
the
road
going
up
to
Beth
Horon
and
killed
men
all
the
way
to
Azekah
and
Makkedah.
11
As
they
chased
the
enemy
down
the
Beth
Horon
Pass
to
Azekah,
the
Lord
threw
large
hailstones
on
them
from
the
sky
and
killed
them.
More
people
were
killed
by
the
hailstones
than
by
the
Israelites'
swords.
12
On
the
day
that
the
Lord
gave
up
the
Amorites
to
the
Israelites,
Joshua
stood
before
all
the
people
of
Israel
and
said
to
the
Lord:
"Sun,
stand
still
over
Gibeon.
Moon,
stand
still
over
the
Valley
of
Aijalon."
13
So
the
sun
stood
still,
and
the
moon
stopped
until
the
people
defeated
their
enemies.
These
words
are
written
in
the
Book
of
Jashar.
The
sun
stopped
in
the
middle
of
the
sky
and
waited
to
go
down
for
a
full
day.
14
That
has
never
happened
at
any
time
before
that
day
or
since.
That
was
the
day
the
Lord
listened
to
a
human
being.
Truly
the
Lord
was
fighting
for
Israel!
15
After
this,
Joshua
and
his
army
went
back
to
the
camp
at
Gilgal.
16
During
the
fight
the
five
kings
ran
away
and
hid
in
a
cave
near
Makkedah,
17
but
someone
found
them
hiding
in
the
cave
at
Makkedah
and
told
Joshua.
18
So
he
said,
"Cover
the
opening
of
the
cave
with
large
rocks.
Put
some
men
there
to
guard
it,
19
but
don't
stay
there
yourselves.
Continue
chasing
the
enemy
and
attacking
them
from
behind.
Don't
let
them
get
to
their
cities,
because
the
Lord
your
God
will
hand
them
over
to
you."
20
So
Joshua
and
the
Israelites
killed
the
enemy,
but
a
few
were
able
to
get
back
to
their
strong,
walled
cities.
21
After
the
fighting,
Joshua's
men
came
back
safely
to
him
at
Makkedah.
No
one
was
brave
enough
to
say
a
word
against
the
Israelites.
22
Joshua
said,
"Move
the
rocks
that
are
covering
the
opening
of
the
cave
and
bring
those
five
kings
out
to
me."
23
So
Joshua's
men
brought
the
five
kings
out
of
the
cave
--
the
kings
of
Jerusalem,
Hebron,
Jarmuth,
Lachish,
and
Eglon.
24
When
they
brought
the
five
kings
out
to
Joshua,
he
called
for
all
his
men.
He
said
to
the
commanders
of
his
army,
"Come
here!
Put
your
feet
on
the
necks
of
these
kings."
So
they
came
close
and
put
their
feet
on
their
necks.
25
Joshua
said
to
his
men,
"Be
strong
and
brave!
Don't
be
afraid,
because
I
will
show
you
what
the
Lord
will
do
to
the
enemies
you
will
fight
in
the
future."
26
Then
Joshua
killed
the
five
kings
and
hung
their
bodies
on
five
trees,
where
he
left
them
until
evening.
27
At
sunset
Joshua
told
his
men
to
take
the
bodies
down
from
the
trees.
Then
they
threw
them
into
the
same
cave
where
they
had
been
hiding
and
covered
the
opening
of
the
cave
with
large
rocks,
which
are
still
there
today.
28
That
day
Joshua
defeated
Makkedah.
He
killed
the
king
and
completely
destroyed
all
the
people
in
that
city
as
an
offering
to
the
Lord;
no
one
was
left
alive.
He
did
the
same
thing
to
the
king
of
Makkedah
that
he
had
done
to
the
king
of
Jericho.
29
Joshua
and
all
the
Israelites
traveled
from
Makkedah
to
Libnah
and
attacked
it.
30
The
Lord
handed
over
the
city
and
its
king.
They
killed
every
person
in
the
city;
no
one
was
left
alive.
And
they
did
the
same
thing
to
that
king
that
they
had
done
to
the
king
of
Jericho.
31
Then
Joshua
and
all
the
Israelites
left
Libnah
and
went
to
Lachish,
which
they
surrounded
and
attacked.
32
The
Lord
handed
over
Lachish
on
the
second
day.
The
Israelites
killed
everyone
in
that
city
just
as
they
had
done
to
Libnah.
33
During
this
same
time
Horam
king
of
Gezer
came
to
help
Lachish,
but
Joshua
also
defeated
him
and
his
army;
no
one
was
left
alive.
34
Then
Joshua
and
all
the
Israelites
went
from
Lachish
to
Eglon.
They
surrounded
Eglon,
attacked
it,
and
35
captured
it
the
same
day.
They
killed
all
its
people
and
completely
destroyed
everything
in
it
as
an
offering
to
the
Lord,
just
as
they
had
done
to
Lachish.
36
Then
Joshua
and
the
Israelites
went
from
Eglon
to
Hebron
and
attacked
it,
37
capturing
it
and
all
the
little
towns
near
it.
The
Israelites
killed
everyone
in
Hebron;
no
one
was
left
alive
there.
Just
as
they
had
done
to
Eglon,
they
completely
destroyed
the
city
and
all
its
people
as
an
offering
to
the
Lord.
38
Then
Joshua
and
the
Israelites
went
back
to
Debir
and
attacked
it.
39
They
captured
that
city,
its
king,
and
all
the
little
towns
near
it,
completely
destroying
everyone
in
Debir
as
an
offering
to
the
Lord;
no
one
was
left
alive
there.
Israel
did
to
Debir
and
its
king
just
as
they
had
done
to
Libnah
and
its
king,
just
as
they
had
done
to
Hebron.
40
So
Joshua
defeated
all
the
kings
of
the
cities
of
these
areas:
the
mountains,
southern
Canaan,
the
western
hills,
and
the
slopes.
The
Lord,
the
God
of
Israel,
had
told
Joshua
to
completely
destroy
all
the
people
as
an
offering
to
the
Lord,
so
he
left
no
one
alive
in
those
places.
41
Joshua
captured
all
the
cities
from
Kadesh
Barnea
to
Gaza,
and
from
Goshen
to
Gibeon.
42
He
captured
all
these
cities
and
their
kings
on
one
trip,
because
the
Lord,
the
God
of
Israel,
was
fighting
for
Israel.
43
Then
Joshua
and
all
the
Israelites
returned
to
their
camp
at
Gilgal.

And
the
men
of
Gibeon
sent
to
Joshua,
and
to
the
camp
at
Gilgal,
saying,
Do
not
withdraw
your
hand
from
your
servants.
Come
up
to
us
quickly,
and
save
us,
and
help
us,
for
all
the
kings
of
the
Amorites
living
in
the
hills
have
gathered
against
us.
7
And
Joshua
went
up
from
Gilgal,
he
and
all
the
people
of
war
with
him,
even
all
the
mighty
warriors.
8
And
Jehovah
said
to
Joshua,
Do
not
be
afraid
of
them,
for
I
have
given
them
into
your
hand.
Not
a
man
of
them
shall
stand
before
you.
9
And
Joshua
came
to
them
suddenly
(he
had
traveled
all
night
from
Gilgal)
10
and
Jehovah
troubled
them
before
Israel,
and
struck
them
with
a
great
blow
at
Gibeon,
and
He
pursued
by
the
way
of
the
ascent
of
Bethhoron,
and
struck
them
to
Azekah,
and
to
Makkedah.
11
And
it
happened,
as
they
fled
from
the
face
of
Israel,
they
were
in
the
descent
of
Bethhoron,
even
Jehovah
cast
great
hail
stones
on
them
out
of
the
heavens,
to
Azekah;
and
they
died.
The
many
who
died
by
the
hail
stones
were
more
than
the
sons
of
Israel
had
killed
by
the
sword.
12
Then
Joshua
spoke
to
Jehovah
in
the
day
when
Jehovah
gave
the
Amorites
up
before
the
sons
of
Israel;
and
he
said,
Sun,
stand
still
before
the
eyes
of
Israel
in
Gibeon!
And,
Moon
stand
still
in
the
valley
of
Aijalon!
13
And
the
sun
stood
still,
and
the
moon
stood
still,
until
the
nation
was
avenged
on
its
foes.
Is
it
not
written
in
the
Book
of
the
Upright?
Yea,
the
sun
stood
still
in
the
middle
of
the
heavens,
and
did
not
hasten
to
go
down
for
a
full
day.
14
And
there
has
not
been
a
day
such
as
that,
before
it
or
after
it;
for
Jehovah
listened
to
the
voice
of
a
man.
For
Jehovah
fought
for
Israel.
15
And
Joshua
returned,
and
all
Israel
with
him,
to
the
camp
at
Gilgal.
16
And
these
five
kings
fled,
and
were
hidden
in
a
cave
at
Makkedah.
17
And
it
was
told
to
Joshua,
saying,
the
five
kings
have
been
found
hidden
in
a
cave
at
Makkedah.
18
And
Joshua
said,
Roll
great
stones
to
the
mouth
of
the
cave,
and
set
men
over
it
to
watch
them.
19
And
you,
do
not
stand
still.
Pursue
your
enemies,
and
you
shall
strike
the
hindmost
of
them.
Do
not
allow
them
to
go
into
their
cities,
for
Jehovah
your
God
has
given
them
into
your
hand.
20
And
it
happened,
when
Joshua
and
the
sons
of
Israel
had
finished
destroying
them
with
a
very
great
blow,
until
they
were
completely
destroyed,
and
the
remnant
of
them
who
escaped
went
into
the
fortified
cities,
21
that
all
the
people
returned
to
the
camp
in
peace,
to
Joshua
at
Makkedah.
Not
one
sharpened
his
tongue
against
the
sons
of
Israel,
against
any
man.
22
And
Joshua
said,
Open
the
mouth
of
the
cave,
and
bring
out
to
me
these
five
kings
from
the
cave.
23
And
they
did
so,
and
brought
out
to
him
these
five
kings
from
the
cave,
the
king
of
Jerusalem,
the
king
of
Hebron,
the
king
of
Jarmuth,
the
king
of
Lachish,
the
king
of
Eglon.
24
And
it
happened,
when
they
brought
out
these
kings
to
Joshua,
Joshua
called
to
every
man
of
Israel
and
said
to
the
commanders
of
the
men
of
war
who
had
gone
with
him,
Draw
near,
set
your
feet
on
the
necks
of
these
kings.
And
they
drew
near
and
set
their
feet
on
their
necks.
25
And
Joshua
said
to
them,
Do
not
fear
nor
be
afraid.
Be
strong
and
brave,
for
so
Jehovah
shall
do
to
all
your
enemies
with
whom
you
are
fighting.
26
And
afterward
Joshua
struck
them,
and
executed
them,
and
hung
them
on
five
trees.
And
they
were
hanging
on
the
trees
until
the
evening.
27
And
it
happened
at
the
time
of
the
going
of
the
sun,
Joshua
commanded,
and
they
took
them
down
from
the
trees,
and
threw
them
into
the
cave
where
they
had
been
hidden,
and
put
great
stones
on
the
mouth
of
the
cave
until
this
very
day.
28
And
that
day
Joshua
captured
Makkedah.
And
he
struck
it
by
the
mouth
of
the
sword,
and
he
destroyed
its
king,
them,
and
every
person
in
it.
He
did
not
leave
a
survivor.
And
he
did
to
the
king
of
Makkedah
as
he
did
to
the
king
of
Jericho.
29
And
Joshua
passed
on,
and
all
Israel
with
him,
from
Makkedah
to
Libnah.
And
he
fought
with
Libnah.
30
And
Jehovah
also
gave
it
into
the
hand
of
Israel,
and
its
king.
And
they
struck
it
by
the
mouth
of
the
sword,
and
every
person
in
it;
he
did
not
leave
a
survivor
in
it.
And
he
did
to
its
king
as
he
did
to
the
king
of
Jericho.
31
And
Joshua
passed
on,
and
all
Israel
with
him,
from
Libnah
to
Lachish.
And
they
camped
against
it,
and
fought
against
it.
32
And
Jehovah
gave
Lachish
into
the
hand
of
Israel,
and
he
captured
it
on
the
second
day,
and
struck
it
by
the
mouth
of
the
sword,
and
every
person
in
it,
according
to
all
that
he
did
to
Libnah.
33
Then
Horam
the
king
of
Gezer
came
up
to
help
Lachish.
And
Joshua
struck
him
and
his
people
until
there
was
not
left
to
him
a
survivor.
34
And
Joshua
passed
on,
and
all
Israel
with
him,
from
Lachish
to
Eglon.
And
they
camped
against
it,
and
fought
against
it,
35
and
captured
it
on
that
day,
and
struck
it
with
the
mouth
of
the
sword.
And
he
destroyed
every
person
in
it
on
that
day,
according
to
all
that
he
did
to
Lachish.
36
And
Joshua
went
on,
and
all
Israel
with
him,
from
Eglon
to
Hebron.
And
they
fought
against
it,
37
and
captured
it,
and
struck
it
by
the
mouth
of
the
sword,
and
its
king,
and
all
its
cities,
and
every
person
in
it;
he
did
not
leave
a
survivor,
according
to
all
that
he
did
to
Eglon,
and
destroyed
it
and
every
person
in
it.
38
And
Joshua
returned,
and
all
Israel
with
him,
to
Debir,
and
fought
against
it.
39
And
they
captured
it
and
its
king,
and
all
its
cities.
And
they
struck
them
by
the
mouth
of
the
sword,
and
destroyed
every
person
in
it;
he
did
not
leave
a
survivor.
As
he
did
to
Hebron,
so
he
did
to
Debir,
and
to
its
king;
even
as
he
did
to
Libnah,
and
to
its
king.
40
And
Joshua
struck
all
the
land:
the
heights
and
the
Negeb,
and
the
Lowland,
and
the
slopes,
and
all
their
kings;
he
did
not
leave
a
survivor,
but
he
destroyed
all
that
breathed,
as
Jehovah
the
God
of
Israel
had
commanded.
41
And
Joshua
struck
them
from
Kadesh-barnea,
even
to
Gaza,
and
all
the
land
of
Goshen,
even
to
Gibeon.
42
And
Joshua
captured
all
these
kings
in
their
land
at
one
time,
for
Jehovah
the
God
of
Israel
fought
for
Israel.
43
And
Joshua
returned,
and
all
Israel
with
him
to
the
camp
at
Gilgal.

1
Now
Adoni-zedek
king
of
Jerusalem
heard
that
Joshua
had
captured
Ai
and
completely
destroyed
it,
doing
to
Ai
and
its
king
as
he
had
done
to
Jericho
and
its
king,
and
that
the
inhabitants
of
Gibeon
had
made
peace
with
Israel
and
were
living
among
them.
2
So
Adoni-zedek
and
his
people
were
greatly
alarmed
because
Gibeon
was
a
large
city
like
one
of
the
royal
cities;
it
was
larger
than
Ai,
and
all
its
men
were
warriors.
3
Therefore
Adoni-zedek
king
of
Jerusalem
sent
word
to
Hoham
king
of
Hebron,
Piram
king
of
Jarmuth,
Japhia
king
of
Lachish,
and
Debir
king
of
Eglon,
saying,
4
"Come
up
and
help
me.
We
will
attack
Gibeon,
because
they
have
made
peace
with
Joshua
and
the
Israelites."
5
So
the
five
Amorite
kings--
the
kings
of
Jerusalem,
Hebron,
Jarmuth,
Lachish,
and
Eglon--
joined
forces,
advanced
with
all
their
armies,
besieged
Gibeon,
and
fought
against
it.
6
Then
the
men
of
Gibeon
sent
word
to
Joshua
in
the
camp
at
Gilgal:
"Don't
abandon
your
servants.
Come
quickly
and
save
us!
Help
us,
for
all
the
Amorite
kings
living
in
the
hill
country
have
joined
forces
against
us."
7
So
Joshua
and
his
whole
military
force,
including
all
the
fighting
men,
came
from
Gilgal.
8
The
LORD
said
to
Joshua,
"Do
not
be
afraid
of
them,
for
I
have
handed
them
over
to
you.
Not
one
of
them
will
be
able
to
stand
against
you."
9
So
Joshua
caught
them
by
surprise,
after
marching
all
night
from
Gilgal.
10
The
LORD
threw
them
into
confusion
before
Israel.
He
defeated
them
in
a
great
slaughter
at
Gibeon,
chased
them
through
the
ascent
of
Beth-horon,
and
struck
them
down
as
far
as
Azekah
and
Makkedah.
11
As
they
fled
before
Israel,
the
LORD
threw
large
hailstones
on
them
from
the
sky
along
the
descent
of
Beth-horon
all
the
way
to
Azekah,
and
they
died.
More
of
them
died
from
the
hail
than
the
Israelites
killed
with
the
sword.
12
On
the
day
the
LORD
gave
the
Amorites
over
to
the
Israelites,
Joshua
spoke
to
the
LORD
in
the
presence
of
Israel:
"Sun,
stand
still
over
Gibeon,
and
moon,
over
the
valley
of
Aijalon."
13
And
the
sun
stood
still
and
the
moon
stopped,
until
the
nation
took
vengeance
on
its
enemies.
Isn't
this
written
in
the
Book
of
Jashar?
So
the
sun
stopped
in
the
middle
of
the
sky
and
delayed
its
setting
almost
a
full
day.
14
There
has
been
no
day
like
it
before
or
since,
when
the
LORD
listened
to
the
voice
of
a
man,
because
the
LORD
fought
for
Israel.
15
Then
Joshua
and
all
Israel
with
him
returned
to
the
camp
at
Gilgal.
16
Now
the
five
defeated
kings
had
fled
and
hidden
themselves
in
the
cave
at
Makkedah.
17
It
was
reported
to
Joshua:
"The
five
kings
have
been
found;
they
are
hiding
in
the
cave
at
Makkedah."
18
Joshua
said,
"Roll
large
stones
against
the
mouth
of
the
cave,
and
station
men
by
it
to
guard
the
kings.
19
But
as
for
the
rest
of
you,
don't
stay
there.
Pursue
your
enemies
and
attack
them
from
behind.
Don't
let
them
enter
their
cities,
for
the
LORD
your
God
has
handed
them
over
to
you."
20
So
Joshua
and
the
Israelites
finished
inflicting
a
terrible
slaughter
on
them
until
they
were
destroyed,
although
a
few
survivors
ran
away
to
the
fortified
cities.
21
The
people
returned
safely
to
Joshua
in
the
camp
at
Makkedah.
No
one
could
say
a
thing
against
the
Israelites.
22
Then
Joshua
said,
"Open
the
mouth
of
the
cave,
and
bring
those
five
kings
to
me
out
of
there."
23
That
is
what
they
did.
They
brought
the
five
kings
of
Jerusalem,
Hebron,
Jarmuth,
Lachish,
and
Eglon
to
Joshua
out
of
the
cave.
24
When
they
had
brought
the
kings
to
him,
Joshua
summoned
all
the
men
of
Israel
and
said
to
the
military
commanders
who
had
accompanied
him,
"Come
here
and
put
your
feet
on
the
necks
of
these
kings."
So
the
commanders
came
forward
and
put
their
feet
on
their
necks.
25
Joshua
said
to
them,
"Do
not
be
afraid
or
discouraged.
Be
strong
and
courageous,
for
the
LORD
will
do
this
to
all
the
enemies
you
fight."
26
After
this,
Joshua
struck
them
down
and
executed
them.
He
hung
their
bodies
on
five
trees
and
they
were
there
until
evening.
27
At
sunset
Joshua
commanded
that
they
be
taken
down
from
the
treesand
thrown
into
the
cave
where
they
had
hidden.
Then
large
stones
were
placed
against
the
mouth
of
the
cave,
and
the
stones
are
there
to
this
day.
28
On
that
day
Joshua
captured
Makkedah
and
struck
it
down
with
the
sword,
including
its
king.
He
completely
destroyed
it
and
everyone
in
it,
leaving
no
survivors.
So
he
treated
the
king
of
Makkedah
as
he
had
the
king
of
Jericho.
29
Joshua
and
all
Israel
with
him
crossed
from
Makkedah
to
Libnah
and
fought
against
Libnah.
30
The
LORD
also
handed
it
and
its
king
over
to
Israel.
He
struck
it
down,
putting
everyone
in
it
to
the
sword,
and
left
no
survivors
in
it.
He
treated
Libnah's
king
as
he
had
the
king
of
Jericho.
31
From
Libnah,
Joshua
and
all
Israel
with
him
crossed
to
Lachish.
They
laid
siege
to
it
and
attacked
it.
32
The
LORD
handed
Lachish
over
to
Israel,
and
Joshua
captured
it
on
the
second
day.
He
struck
it
down,
putting
everyone
in
it
to
the
sword,
just
as
he
had
done
to
Libnah.
33
At
that
time
Horam
king
of
Gezer
went
to
help
Lachish,
but
Joshua
struck
him
down
along
with
his
people,
leaving
no
survivors
in
it.
34
Then
Joshua
crossed
from
Lachish
to
Eglon
and
all
Israel
with
him.
They
laid
siege
to
it
and
attacked
it.
35
On
that
day
they
captured
it
and
struck
it
down,
putting
everyone
in
it
to
the
sword.
He
completely
destroyed
it
that
day,
just
as
he
had
done
to
Lachish.
36
Next,
Joshua
and
all
Israel
with
him
went
up
from
Eglon
to
Hebron
and
attacked
it.
37
They
captured
it
and
struck
down
its
king,
all
its
villages,
and
everyone
in
it
with
the
sword.
Just
as
he
had
done
at
Eglon,
he
left
no
survivors.
He
completely
destroyed
Hebron
and
everyone
in
it.
38
Finally,
Joshua
turned
toward
Debir
and
attacked
it.
And
all
Israel
was
with
him.
39
He
captured
it--
its
king
and
all
its
villages.
They
struck
them
down
with
the
sword
and
completely
destroyed
everyone
in
it,
leaving
no
survivors.
He
treated
Debir
and
its
king
as
he
had
treated
Hebron
and
as
he
had
treated
Libnah
and
its
king.
40
So
Joshua
conquered
the
whole
region--
the
hill
country,
the
Negev,
the
Judean
foothills,
and
the
slopes--
with
all
their
kings,
leaving
no
survivors.
He
completely
destroyed
every
living
being,
as
the
LORD,
the
God
of
Israel,
had
commanded.
41
Joshua
conquered
everyone
from
Kadesh-barnea
to
Gaza,
and
all
the
land
of
Goshen
as
far
as
Gibeon.
42
Joshua
captured
all
these
kings
and
their
land
in
one
campaign,
because
the
Lord,
the
God
of
Israel,
fought
for
Israel.
43
Then
Joshua
returned
with
all
Israel
to
the
camp
